My Speakers

Bowers and Wilkins, in many experts opinion, offer some of the finest loudspeaker systems in the world.   The recently upgraded Bowers & Wilkins 800 diamond series is arguably the pinnacle of loudspeaker technology with ultra-stiff enclosures, continuum cones (upgraded Kevlar) and diamond based tweeters.

I  heard a demo of the 800s at the Bristol Sound & Music show in Feb 2017.  This show cased at pair of 801d4s at the front, an 801 centre, 802d4s at the rear and the new 800 series sub.  This was an incredible experience.  The resolution, agility, dynamic range and sheer musicality was jaw-dropping: the band really was in the room with us.

Sadly I can’t afford £100,000 worth of loudspeakers.  But a little further down the range are the 685 series 2.  These are a modern marvel, saving money on the cabinet finish but making no compromise on the drivers and stiffness these are incredible speakers for the money.  What Hi-Fi named the 685s the best speaker of the year 4 times in the last 10 years!

I have mine on a pair of Atocama stands in white and the resolution, clarity, balance and dynamic response impressive.  Music comes alive and envelopes the room.  And at £450 for a pair a bargain.
